We're Going to Disney!

From the UCPS website...

In other exciting Band news, the Cuthbertson High School Marching Band has been accepted to participate in the Walt Disney World Resort National Thanksgiving Parade of Bands. The Cavaliers are one of only 12 high school bands from across the nation that have been accepted for this honor. The recognition was the result of Mr. Ebert and the band working on a lengthy audition and evaluation process to submit to the Disney performance board for review and consideration. The band received an invitation to apply based on their national marching competition they participated in this fall. After a lengthy bio outlining our previous competition scores, several video performances of the band, and references from others in the instrumental music field that have seen us in action we were ready to apply.

Mr. Ebert received word early in February that the Cuthbertson High School band was granted one of the 12 reserved spots for high school bands. CHS students will have the opportunity to participate with the 11 other selected bands in a parade around EPCOT ending in a performance atop the center fountain. The students will have the opportunity to work with drum corps techs and university directors from across the nation. As a Disney "thank you" for their performance, the bands will sit as guests of honor at Mickey's Thanksgiving table and be entertained by Disney after the performance. The students will also have an "after hours" party in Animal Kingdom hosted by WDW for the participating bands.

Mr. Ebert said, “I am so proud of our band students and am glad they have been granted this wonderfully educational and entertaining opportunity. It truly will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
